Course Overview

 

Lean six sigma and error management incorporates the knowledge required of a yellow belt novice and advances the skills developed through to Green Belt level. The course will give a real taste of what can be achieved back in the workplace using pharmaceutical and biotech examples throughout.

 

This training course will provide you with a detailed understanding of the various methodologies and how and when to apply them. It will prepare you for your first project and make you hungry to find the next one. Using examples of pharmaceutical development and manufacturing you will learn the concepts of lean six sigma. This course is ideal for any pharmaceutical or biotech professional looking at process improvement and reducing error in their area of work.

Action Plan

  • At the end of the training you will create an action plan to help you implement and develop your new skills and knowledge

Reinforcement Session

  • Delivered 3 to 4 weeks after the training
  • It is a 1 hour virtual session enabling the group to reinforce the key learnings from the training and cover and subsequent questions and challenges

  • Implementing Lean Six Sigma and change management Identifying waste in our operation
  • Introducing the various Lean six Sigma tools and techniques and their application
  • Managing a Lean Six sigma project
  • Multiple Choice Exam Green Belt (progression after successful completion of the Yellow Belt course)
  • Evaluating value add against non-value added activities
  • Thinking the Toyota Way Introducing DMAIC to improve speed, cost and quality
  • The importance of data and data collection
  • What is variation and variation analysis
  • Descriptive statistics and data displays
  • Using Value Stream Mapping and other process flow tools (SIPOC)
  • Identifying and verifying causes (e.g. Five Whys, Ishikawa diagram etc)
  • Applying Voice of Customer techniques with CTQ analysis
  • Overview of the 5S systems and implementing it
  • Mistake proofing (Poka-Yoke)
  • Causes of error and methodologies for elimination Examination –
  • there will also be competence assessments throughout the course

 

 

Brian Szukala has over 30 years of industry experience and currently supports life science organisations with learning and development, performance enhancement and change management around compliance areas and topics. He has a wealth of experience in the field of compliance and has presented at numerous seminars, both in the UK and abroad on various compliance, behavioural and productivity improvement topics.

 

Prior to this Brian was Business Services Director at SeerPharma providing auditing, consultancy and training for the life science sector a role he took after holding the role of Head of Training at Pfizer and Abbott Laboratories in the UK.

 

He has been actively involved in developing competence and competency frameworks incorporated into performance management systems. He has worked with various government bodies to advise on UK skills issues within the industry and is currently on the strategic board of SEMTA (Sector Skills Council representing pharmaceuticals) advising on skills and UK competitiveness.
